Professional CPD Course
A one-day assessed course for qualified barbers and hairdressers. Four places per cohort.
Competence, not attendance. Assessed against published criteria, in a working studio, in groups small enough that nobody leaves having only watched.
Our Mission
Textured hair has been an afterthought in hair replacement training. Most provision is built around straight and wavy systems, and practitioners working with type 3 and type 4 clients are left to adapt techniques that do not transfer. The result is poor fits, mis-matched colours and textures, avoidable damage and clients who lose confidence in a service that should restore it.
Hair Unit Blueprint exists to close that gap. We train qualified barbers and hairdressers to a competent, client-ready standard in the systems their clients actually need, drawn from current practice in a working studio rather than from theory.
Our commitment is to competence over attendance. A certificate from us means the work was done and assessed, not that a seat was filled.
Course Information
WHO THIS COURSE IS FOR. Qualified barbers and hairdressers holding a minimum Level 2 regulated qualification in barbering or hairdressing, aged 18 or over. You will be asked for a copy of your certificate before your place is confirmed. This is professional development for practitioners already working behind the chair. It is not suitable for beginners.
WHAT YOU WILL COVER. Six modules across one full day. Introduction to type 4 hair systems, the texture most commonly known as Afro hair. System types and texture selection. Colour and texture matching. Preparation, cutting and application. Styling. Aftercare and maintenance.
HOW THE DAY RUNS. 09:00 to 17:00, face to face at Carter Creative Hair Studio, Manchester. Seven CPD hours, breaks excluded. Roughly three hours of theory, ninety minutes of live demonstration and two and a half hours of supervised practical work. Practical training is delivered on mannequin heads with a prepared bald area, so you can repeat technique without the pressure of a live client.
HOW YOU ARE ASSESSED. You are assessed as competent, not marked present. Questioning and observation run through the day. Formal assessment covers a practical application judged against five published criteria, a written aftercare plan and a short theory test. You must meet the standard on all five practical criteria to be assessed as competent.
WHAT YOU LEAVE WITH. A certificate of competence in non-surgical hair systems for type 4 hair. Course materials including a workbook, a colour and texture reference guide and an aftercare template. This is a continuing professional development course. It is not a regulated qualification.
COHORT SIZE AND DATES. Four places per cohort, so that every learner is properly assessed. Dates are published in advance and confirmed to run once three of the four places are booked. Join the waiting list to be told when the next date opens.
PRICE. £895 per place, including all materials and your practice unit.
We'll confirm your place once we've checked your Level 2 certificate.
